CULVER – Sam Rice is on a roll.
The Warsaw senior claimed an individual sectional tennis title Thursday night.
Rice topped Triton senior Jared Fisher 6-0, 6-1 in the individual sectional portion of the state tournament series at Culver Academies.
Rice, who earned the spot with a win on Tuesday night as the Tigers were eliminated from team competition with a 3-2 loss to Plymouth in the regional final, advances to the regional round for No. 1 singles players who are unbeaten in tourney play at LaPorte on Oct. 18.
Fisher finishes his senior season with an 11-9 record.
The Wawasee No. 1 doubles team of Nate Haines and Jake Hutchinson saw their season end Thursday. The Manchester duo of Brandon Scott and Noah Cain topped the Warrior pair by a 6-2, 6-1 final.
The Manchester team advances to play the Plymouth team of Ryan Johnson and Max Holloway back at Culver Academy on Friday at 5 p.m. for the doubles sectional title.
